Video Voter

As a Los Angeles based organization, CGS has been lucky enough to work with one the best Government Access channels in the country, LA City View 35. In partnership with Los Angeles, CGS has produced and developed a robust roster of Video Voter programming.

Tracy Westen has been working alongside LA35 since the mid 90’s encouraging the city to officially adopt Video Voter programming, and in "INSERT DATE" the city did just that; giving all candidates for city council the opportunity to tape candidate statements. For the next election season the programming grew and incorporated short interviews with the candidates. And for the last municipal election in 2009, LA City View 35 not only produced candidate statement interviews with "INSERT NUMBER" candidates, City View also produced an informative program on the duties and responsibilities of each city office. This programming is particularly important as experts agree that people don’t vote on what they don’t perceive as important. Yet so many citizens are unaware of what impact local officials can have on their day-to-day life.
