In partnership with the City of Calabasas, Video Voter & the Center for Governmental Studies (CGS), hosted the 2009 City of Calabasas City Council Candidate Forum on Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
Video Voter worked with The City of Calabasas to develop their Election Coverage for the 2009 City Council race. All qualified City Council Candidates were given the opportunity tape a short interview and participate in a Candidate Forum.
Video Voter participated in all facets of the programming from helping to develop the questions to Betsy Rosenfeld acting as co-moderator of the Candidate Forum which was held in front of a live audience at the Calabasas Library, cablecast on CTV Channel 3, the city's government access channel, and archived on the City’s website at www.cityofcalabasas.com.
The forum format featured both a direct answer section where candidates had the opportunity to answer questions uninterrupted, as well as a discussion segment where the floor was open for candidates to discuss an issue freely amongst themselves. This portion of the forum gave voters a chance to get a sense of candidates how the candidates might interact with another; something that most forums do not provide.
