Video Voter seeks to improve voter information at all levels of government, provide candidates with new ways to communicate with voters, encourage the use of untapped communications resources and employ new technologies to provide election information in easily accessible formats. Video Voter works with cities and cable TV companies to provide candidates and ballot measure committees with opportunities to communicate their views to voters in video and video-on-demand formats.

Video Voter has helped Los Angeles, New York, Santa Monica, Calabassas and other cities provide candidates and ballot measure committees with video coverage over the Web and cable TV. Video Voter has created:

  • Video-on-Demand instructions for Nevada voters on how to participate in the state’s presidential caucuses;
  • "Voter Minutes" that objectively summarize the pros and cons of ballot measures and help thousands of Californians make better informed decisions at the polls; and
  • Candidate and elected official nterviews that have been broadcast on cable TV, the California Channel and the Internet; and
  • Public Service Announcements that encourage people to register and vote.

Video Voter is a project of the Center for Governmental Studies (CGS), a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in West Los Angeles that helps civic organizations, decision-makers and the media to strengthen democracy and improve government processes by providing rigorous research, nonpartisan analysis, strategic consulting and innovative media models of public information and civic engagement.
