NevadaCaucus.tv + DemocracyOnDemand.tv

CGS' Video Voter project recently launched Nevada Caucus '08 for the Nevada Presidential Caucuses and Democracy on Demand in California. These two efforts educate cable television viewers about important issues and how to get involved in the political process. Harnessing the power of cable's Video On Demand (VOD) technology, viewers can access relevant information that goes much further than a 30-second sound bite. By partnering with California and Nevada cable companies, CGS can experiment with various voter information formats developed through its Video Voter program.

Partnership with Open Media Network (OMN)

OMN is a dynamic internet portal providing web-based delivery of high quality, educational, and socially conscientious content as created by noncommercial networks, educational institutions, and community-based organizations. Video Voter, starting with CGS and LA36's Voter Minutes on California's 2006 Ballot Initiatives, will be featured on OMN's portal.

OMN's robust content delivery system will bring great value to Video Voter by facilitating the syndication of Video Voter programming. By sharing one station's content with others in the same area, which CGS had done previously by mailing out broadcast-quality DVDs, the effectiveness of every Video Voter effort will increase dramatically.

Voter Information and the Media

Video Voter aims to get more people voting by moving voter information into the video age. But what does that information look like and how can it best be offered to potential voters? We are always asking ourselves these questions. View this PowerPoint presentation to see the latest research on how to grow your audiences with Video Voter information by using internet, marketing and new distribution technologies.

Video Voter Launched in Big Apple

New York City produced a comprehensive Video Voter Guide for their General Election on November 8, 2005. The program offered all candidates for Mayor, City Council and Borough President the opportunity to tape short statements about their qualifications and positions on local issues. Airing of the segments on NYC TV Channel 74 reached approximately 1.7 million viewers across the city's five boroughs.

CGS worked closely with the nonpartisan NYC Voter Assistance Commission and NYC TV Channel 74 to develop this voter information program and is very proud of the excellent results this alliance achieved. As the biggest city in the nation, and arguably most important in the world, we hope New York's Video Voter Guide will set the stage for other cities to follow New York's lead and provide their residents with the tools needed to engage in the democratic process in a more effective and meaningful way.
